Welcome to Mendenhall
We serve students in grades 6-8 and are a part of the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District. We are located about 45 minutes south-east of San Francisco. We believe in providing each student with a safe and comfortable learning environment with high expectations and where they have the opportunity to excel academically, learn respect, ethical values and social skills.
The mission of William Mendenhall Middle School is to:
~challenge students to reach their highest level of academic achievement by setting high goals, communicating clear expectations in all classes and at home, and motivating students to strive for accuracy and excellence
~ provide a stimulating, high quality, standards-based education that fosters a love of learning in an orderly, nurturing, cooperative, and physically and emotionally safe environment
~ promote mutual respect and acceptance of cultural, racial and religious differences through kindness, honesty, personal responsibility, and a healthy lifestyle
~ become ethical, caring and environmentally responsible citizens in order to make a positive contribution to society in our diverse world.
H1N1 Flu Information
Of great concern this year is the probability that we will have a more serious than normal flu season. The District has made available information for your benefit. Click Here for a Letter from our Superintendent in English or Here for one in Spanish.
As of Oct. 7, click ENGLISH or SPANISH for the latest information from the school district.
As of Oct. 13, per the office of Student Services - "Just for clarification-Influenza A is a type of flu. There are many subtypes of Influenza A, H1N1 being one of those subtypes. Since there is not any community testing being done for H1N1, most patients with flu type symptoms are being treated as though it is H1N1 and physicians are managing symptoms on that assumption. Per the county, testing is only taking place if patients are hospitalized or have significant respiratory complications."
BREAKING NEWS
The Alameda County Public Health Department is providing no-cost H1N1 vaccinations to uninsured residents who are at highest risk of complications from exposure to the H1N1 virus. Click HERE for a flyer.

Are you feeling disconnected from what is happening at the school? Are you looking for a way to get involved? Are you wondering how your child changed so dramatically in the last few months? This is an opportunity to improve communication between parents and other parents, as well as between parents and staff. We can share ideas, experiences and resources. There have been numerous studies over the years linking a child’s academic success to the level of parental involvement, and this does not mean doing their homework for them. Please join us for a cup of coffee and good conversation. You can catch up with old friends or make some new ones. We look forward to seeing you there!
